Email Marketing & Newsletters:
Build on your relationship with your customers – people buy from people they know.
The above video explains our Email Marketing Service, Email Jam.
One of the most effective marketing tools is the email newsletter. We believe that almost every kind of business can benefit from a regular email marketing campaign to their customers and any other interested parties who choose to subscribe - This is why we set up Email Jam an email marketing and newsletter service.
By communicating regularly, you are some way there to building a relationship with your email subscribers. Firstly, they get to know your company – they can read about what is happening, events, offers, featured products or services etc. If they feel they know you, they are more likely to do business with you than one of you competitors. You can also get to know them – we can produce reports which demonstrate the parts of the emails that received the most interest i.e. by measuring the click-through rates of those particular features.
How should I collect email addresses?
You can do this in two main ways:
Via your website
If you offer any kind of regular newsletter, it should be very easy for people to simply fill in their email address and subscribe via your website. Some more advanced options might include the addition of an online form where people can tick which products/services are of the most interest to them. This information helps you learn more about your customers and you might even want to provide segmented and more targeted email communication in the future.
By asking people to write it down
This works best in a retail environment. There are many ways you can do this – you simply need to see which one works best for your business:
- Invite people to ‘put your business card in a bowl’ – offer a monthly prize draw as an incentive.
- Forms or slips of paper to complete and hand in or post back to you.
- Take a clipboard on the high street and get asking!
Try to make it easy for people, tell them how they will benefit (ideas, tips, offers), tell them how often it will be, and tell them how easy it is to unsubscribe if they change their mind.
Won’t I be ‘pestering’ my customers?
Each of our clients is different, but we usually recommend sending a newsletter monthly or every two months. Most people are happy to receive monthly news and information from a company they are interested in.
If they have signed up to the email newsletter, and they knew how often they would receive it, then they have given you permission to contact them. If they change their minds in the future, they can very easily stop receiving them by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link which is contained in every single newsletter we send out.
What if I don’t have time to come up with new content for a regular newsletter?
Many of our clients fall into this category. Often, it sounds more daunting than it is. It is worth remembering that once the design has been completed and approved for your first newsletter, the others should follow on in a very similar format – using the headings from the first newsletter as a guide or template. Obviously it depends greatly on the type of business, but to give you an idea, a typical newsletter might include the following:
- Short Introduction (two or three lines of text)
- Featured product or service
- Offer / incentive / voucher to print
- Top tips
- Option to unsubscribe (always there by law)
Other ways we can help you:
Advance planning:
Our email jam service always starts with an email marketing plan - where we produce a 6 month email marketing plan for your business. (find out more on the email jam website > email marketing plan.
Email reminder service:
We can send you an email at an agreed time each month/2 months, which will include a form for you to fill in with the appropriate content. You simply have to fill this in and email it to us – we do the rest.
Editing the content for you:
This includes checking it for spelling, grammar and inconsistencies, as well as suggestions if necessary, for cutting down the length or padding it out. Writing your newsletter needn't be a daunting task and we give you easy tips to help, plus we give you your email marketing plan, so you know each month what the topics and incentives are.
How will it look?
Fabulous of course! You have the option of choosing from various templates which have been tried and tested in multiple email clients and programs. Or, we can personalise your design even further with some great eye catching graphics and further using your business branding. Look at the email newsletter design options and examples on the email jam website.
How much does this cost?
For a full breakdown of our prices and services, view the email jam email marketing costs page. From as little as £85 per month, you can be contacting 2000 of your customers!
Can I measure its success?
We give you full access to our reporting platform which includes your own iphone or mobile interface! for every email newsletter that goes out. Amongst many other statistics and graphs it illustrates how many people actually opened the email, the features from within the email that were clicked on (click-through rates) and who forwarded your email to a friend (all this in graphical easy to understand format). Over time, this will build up a picture of what your customers/subscribers are interested in, and what drives them to read more, or take some form of action such as print a voucher, or make an enquiry or purchase. Our reporting platform also integrates to Google Analytics so you can compare results and see additional information about your users. These statistics allow you to monitor and measure your campaigns so that you have a good idea of the return on investment of your marketing (normally difficult to achieve).
Ezines / Reports / Bulletins
If you need to send groups of customers/subscribers a larger piece of information on a regular basis, then this may be more suited to a form other than the email newsletter. We can work with you to come up with the best strategy and solution.
