Ecommerce: Generate more revenue from the web, 24 hours a day, from your online shop.

It is often said that shoppers are abandoning the high street in favour of the internet. The internet offers a convenient, and instant way for consumers to research, compare and purchase products and services. Being able to shop from the comfort of your own home, in your pyjamas if you want, at a time that suits you – well, you can see why it’s an activity that is growing in popularity. Whether you have a product or a service that you sell to consumers or businesses, we can work with you to develop the right online ecommerce shop for your business.

I’m not sure if my business needs an online shop.

We won’t recommend one unless it’s the right thing for your business. If you sell products or services that lend themselves well to ecommerce then it is always worth considering. Some of our clients started out with a small product range and built up from there.

What is special about an ecommerce website by Redhead Media?

At Redhead we use platforms to deliver feature-rich solutions which include our ecommerce websites. Doing this allows our clients to take advantage of the multitude of modern ecommerce website advances. These features are much like you would see on amazon i.e. recommended items, cross selling, offers, suggested products, top selling items, customer account registration with automatic notification of the order process and more. Usability is driving ecommerce development in that businesses want to offer the most positive experience possible from landing page to checkout. This means providing users with alternate ways to navigate, a clear url structure and way-finding navigation help to make users feel comfortable so that they are therefore more likely to make a purchase.

Will it be difficult for me to manage?

Online web-based administration panels offer reports, statistics and graphs that show orders and sales. Adding new products is simple and managing the order process is a matter of clicking a few buttons.

Will my customers’ card payments be secure?

Most platforms allow you to integrate into either a payment solutions provider like Protx (now Sage Pay), or give you the opportunity to transact with your client on your own website. Depending on your needs and requirements, either is viable. The latter means that you will need a secure socket licence (SSL) for your domain (from around £150 per year) and simply means that when you move into the checkout part of the purchase, you will see the url address change from http:// to https:// and the icon beside the address may change colour to show that this is a secure part of the site where information is encrypted. In most cases, purchasing an SSL is advised anyway, as it gives the customer confidence in your business.

If you take this first option (integrating with a provider like Protx) the secure process is handled by the provider. Depending on the provider, this can also be a seamless process for your customers (customers don't like to be shunted around when paying for items).

Once you are taking credit card details from customers on your site, you will need to be PCI compliant – a matter on which we can advise. It is relatively straightforward, simply something you need to be advised on and aware of.
